Radix Design is a small architecture firm based in the historic Baker neighborhood of Denver, Colorado.

The word ‘radix’ is Latin for a root vegetable - for instance, a carrot or a radish. ‘Radix’ is also used in mathematics for the root or base of a number system.

In design, Radix stands for an architecture that is rooted in place, at home in the dirt; simple, elegant, and green.

Radix Design was founded in 2016 by Colorado architect Ozi Friedrich.  Ozi's experience includes award-winning projects at scales ranging from small renovations to 100+ unit affordable housing developments. Since then, Radix Design has grown to include licensed architect Alex St. Angelo and architectural designer Archer Squire. All three team members collaborate on any given project.

Radix Design has based its business practices on B-Corp principles to help embed responsible and sustainable practices at every level.

Our studio space

RADIX DESIGN takes inspiration from  the principles of the Slow Food movement: GOOD, CLEAN, and FAIR.

GOOD: Architecture of quality, beauty, and warmth.

CLEAN: Architecture which is healthy and beneficial for its inhabitants.

FAIR: Architecture that benefits the place around it - street, neighborhood, city, land, and people

As a small firm, Radix Design maintains a highly collaborative design process where each of our designers actively contributes to the discovery of design options. We seek opportunities to engage our clients creatively and treat everyone involved as a part of the same creative team.

We make sure to keep our design techniques ‘organic’. While we spend plenty of time building 3-D digital models inside the computer, hand sketches and study models remain a key component of our approach to design.

We love our work, and cherish the opportunity to offer our passion, skill, and creativity in support of our communities. We’re also always happy to chat about architecture, so please feel free to get in touch!
